Qld: Teenager dies in car crash on 18th birthday

BRISBANE, Dec 21 AAP - A teenager has died on his 18th birthday in a Sunshine Coast car crash.

The 18-year old driver died at the scene and another man was in a critical condition
following the accident, which brought Queensland's holiday road toll to two.

Police said the car crashed on Kin Kin Road, Pomona, about 4.50am (AEST) on Sunday.

A male passenger suffered life-threatening injuries and another received minor injuries.

The crash follows two separate motorcycle accidents on Saturday, in which a man and
teenage boy were killed.

The man died in Emerald after hitting a pedestrian at high speed about 2.45am (AEST).

A 13-year-old boy died after crashing a motorcycle into a fence at a property in the
Currumbin Valley, on the Gold Coast, about 10.30am (AEST).

The boy's death was not included in the road toll because it happened on a private property.
