QLD:AG seeks assurance over honeymoon killer

Queensland's attorney general has written to authorities in Alabama to finalise cooperation
in the possible US prosecution of honeymoon killer GABE WATSON.

The American is serving 18 months in a Queensland jail after pleading guilty last year
to the manslaughter of his bride TINA during a Great Barrier Reef scuba dive in 2003.

WATSON'll likely be deported to the US after his release in November .. and US prosecutors
want to bring a murder case against him in Alabama.

Queensland attorney general CAMERON DICK is asking his Alabama counterpart for an unconditional
undertaking that they won't seek the death penalty.
