WA: Lost British tourist rescued after calling home
A British tourist lost on an Australian mountain range has been rescued after using
his mobile phone to call his father in England.
DARREN ALCOCK, 23, became disorientated in rain and fog as he was bushwalking in the
Stirling Range National Park, near Albany in southern Western Australia, yesterday afternoon.
Mr ALCOCK called his father in Norfolk, England, who then rang local authorities who
began a search.
Police say the missing climber also called the 000 emergency number but the call cut out.
Officers say Mr ALCOCK is lucky to have been found in the poor conditions.
